SUMMARY:Follow the Money: How the global ticketing market works and where the money is
DESCRIPTION:A strategic briefing on how the live entertainment and ticketing technology market works – where value is created\, and where the opportunities lie.\nLive is now the product. Around 50% of global music revenue comes from live events\, and that share is still growing. \nAt the same time\, ticketing has moved from queues and box offices to data\, marketing and the fan relationship – and the market is consolidating fast. \nThis Experience Briefing breaks down how the market is structured\, who the major players are\, and the trends reshaping it. \nThe goal: give investors\, founders and operators a clear view of where value is created in ticketing and where the white spaces are. \nTicketing is no longer about tickets. The real product is the relationship with the fan\, and the data that comes with it. \nThe demand may be clear. The growth may be structural. But understanding who captures the value – and where a new player or investor can still win – is less straightforward. \nEurope alone is a €25B+ market with more than 500M event attendances a year\, spread across 44 countries that each have their own ecosystem. No single platform dominates\, and that fragmentation is the opportunity. \nIn this session\, Henk Schuit\, strategic consultant and former Managing Director of CTS Eventim Netherlands\, will examine how the global ticketing industry works – and where it’s heading. \nDrawing on more than 35 years in live entertainment\, including 20 years leading CTS Eventim Netherlands\, Henk will explain why the market is consolidating\, how the business model has moved beyond the ticket\, and where the gaps are. \n  \nWhat you’ll leave with\n\nWhy live entertainment is structural rather than cyclical growth – and the three drivers behind it\nHow the European market is structured\, and why its fragmentation creates opportunity\nThe major players – Live Nation/Ticketmaster\, CTS Eventim\, Fever/DICE and AXS – and what their consolidation means\nHow the business model has shifted beyond the ticket\, to data\, dynamic pricing\, upsell and the fan relationship\nThe five trends shaping the industry now – AI\, fan data\, new formats\, revenue beyond the ticket and regulation\nWhere the value and white spaces are – and the risks that need experienced navigation\n\nWho is it for?\n\nInvestors and finance professionals evaluating live entertainment and live tech\nFounders and business leaders building ticketing\, marketing or fan-data technology\nPromoters\, venues and festival operators choosing or reviewing a ticketing partner\nProducers of immersive and location-based experiences\nMarketing and commercial leaders who want to get more value from fan data\nAnyone who wants to understand how the ticketing industry works today\, and where it’s heading\n\nAbout Henk Schuit\nHenk Schuit is a strategic consultant with more than 35 years in live entertainment\, covering concerts\, festivals\, sports and theatre. \nFor 20 years he was Managing Director of CTS Eventim Netherlands. He now sits on the advisory boards of Pieter Smit Group\, Tickets for Good and Ticketkeeper\, and is Vice-Chair of VVEM\, the Dutch live entertainment association. \nHe is a regular speaker at ESNS (Eurosonic Noorderslag) and CPFE (Congres :Podia Festivals Events). SUMMARY:Behind Radiohead KID A MNESIA: the Film & Video Game
DESCRIPTION:A behind-the-scenes look at how Radiohead’s KID A MNESIA moved from artwork to video game\, film and physical installation.\nMore and more creative projects are expected to live in several forms at once: music\, art\, game\, film and in-person experience. But each move into a new medium means new tools\, new constraints and new decisions about what to keep and what to change. \nThis Experience Briefing breaks down how the project came to life\, why the different forms were created\, and the processes behind each step of the journey. \nThe goal: give experience designers\, producers and creative teams a firsthand look at how to translate a creative world across mediums. \nThe source material may be strong. The audience may already be there. But carrying the same creative world from one medium to the next – without losing what made it work – is less straightforward. \nKID A MNESIA began with artwork created during the recording sessions for Kid A and Amnesiac. Decades later\, that artwork became the KID A MNESIA Exhibition video game\, then a film\, and finally Motion Picture House\, a travelling physical installation. \nIn this session\, Matthew Davis\, Founder of interactive media studio [namethemachine]\, will take us behind the scenes of the project’s creation and evolution. \nDrawing on his work producing Radiohead’s KID A MNESIA Virtual Exhibition and film\, alongside years building show control systems for live performance\, Matthew will show the decisions behind each transformation\, what was learned along the way\, and the challenges of keeping one creative world intact across multiple mediums. \nHe’ll use original artwork\, early layouts\, renderings\, reference material and work-in-progress content to tell the story. \nThe session will explore:\n\nThe story behind KID A MNESIA and Motion Picture House\, from the original recording-session artwork to today\nHow the original physical art was translated into a digital environment using Unreal Engine\nHow the world and imagery created for the game were taken into film\nHow the team worked out the best way to experience that film in a physical space\nWhy each form was created\, and the decisions behind each transformation\nWhat was learned along the way\, and the challenges of carrying one creative world across music\, art\, game\, film and in-person experience\n\nWho is it for?\n\nExperience designers and creative directors\nCreative producers and production teams\nArtists and teams working across music\, film\, digital and physical experiences\nImmersive\, exhibition and cultural experience teams\nAnyone adapting an existing creative world or IP for a new format\nFans of Radiohead\n\nAbout Matthew Davis\nMatthew Davis is an audio-visual producer\, programmer and musician\, whose passion for music leads him to discover new ways of interacting with art and technology. \nHe runs interactive media studio [namethemachine]\, where he produced Radiohead’s KID A MNESIA Virtual Exhibition and film. He has spent years inventing show control systems for live performance and building adaptive platforms for experiential and real-time environments. He also plays electronics for the LA Philharmonic\, and has programmed Drake’s live show for the last fifteen years. \nA musician since childhood\, Matthew graduated from the University of Virginia with a BA in Economics\, then studied Music Production & Programming at Berklee College of Music. Superposition\, his ambient music project with longtime collaborator Justin Boreta (The Glitch Mob)\, was nominated for Best New Age Album at the 2020 Grammy Awards. \n\n \n\n  \nHow to watch this Experience Briefing:\n\nExperience Briefings are available for WXO members only\nTo join the WXO\, please head to our Application page\nThe WXO is a global home for the leaders\, shapers and doers in the Experience Economy\nAs a member\, you’ll get live access to Experience Briefings like this one plus unlock an on demand library of over 100 recordings\n\n  \n\n  \nTimings:\nSession #2 is suitable for those in the US or Europe\, but everyone is welcome!
