Follow the Money: How the global ticketing market works and where the money is (early)

October 14 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

A strategic briefing on how the live entertainment and ticketing technology market works – where value is created, and where the opportunities lie.

Live is now the product. Around 50% of global music revenue comes from live events, and that share is still growing.

At the same time, ticketing has moved from queues and box offices to data, marketing and the fan relationship – and the market is consolidating fast.

This Experience Briefing breaks down how the market is structured, who the major players are, and the trends reshaping it.

The goal: give investors, founders and operators a clear view of where value is created in ticketing and where the white spaces are.

Ticketing is no longer about tickets. The real product is the relationship with the fan, and the data that comes with it.

The demand may be clear. The growth may be structural. But understanding who captures the value – and where a new player or investor can still win – is less straightforward.

Europe alone is a €25B+ market with more than 500M event attendances a year, spread across 44 countries that each have their own ecosystem. No single platform dominates, and that fragmentation is the opportunity.

In this session, Henk Schuit, strategic consultant and former Managing Director of CTS Eventim Netherlands, will examine how the global ticketing industry works – and where it’s heading.

Drawing on more than 35 years in live entertainment, including 20 years leading CTS Eventim Netherlands, Henk will explain why the market is consolidating, how the business model has moved beyond the ticket, and where the gaps are.

What you’ll leave with

  • Why live entertainment is structural rather than cyclical growth – and the three drivers behind it
  • How the European market is structured, and why its fragmentation creates opportunity
  • The major players – Live Nation/Ticketmaster, CTS Eventim, Fever/DICE and AXS – and what their consolidation means
  • How the business model has shifted beyond the ticket, to data, dynamic pricing, upsell and the fan relationship
  • The five trends shaping the industry now – AI, fan data, new formats, revenue beyond the ticket and regulation
  • Where the value and white spaces are – and the risks that need experienced navigation

Who is it for?

  • Investors and finance professionals evaluating live entertainment and live tech
  • Founders and business leaders building ticketing, marketing or fan-data technology
  • Promoters, venues and festival operators choosing or reviewing a ticketing partner
  • Producers of immersive and location-based experiences
  • Marketing and commercial leaders who want to get more value from fan data
  • Anyone who wants to understand how the ticketing industry works today, and where it’s heading
