Co-Author of Designing Experiences
Mat Duerden received a Ph.D. from Texas A&M University and a M.S. from Brigham Young University. He is an Associate Professor of Experience Design and Management in the Marriott School of Business at Brigham Young University. He teaches experience design courses undergraduate and MBA levels. His research focuses on experience design in a wide variety of contexts including work and leisure.
Mat’s publications have appeared in a variety of journals including Journal of Applied Psychology, Journal of Environmental Psychology, Journal of Adolescent Research, and Journal of Leisure Research. Mat is married to Chenae Duerden and they have four children.
Mat's book, Designing Experiences, coauthored with Robert Rossman was published in 2019 by Columbia Business School Press. In 2021 Axiom Business Awards selected the book as a silver medalist winner in the Business Intelligence/Innovation category.
Mat splits his time between experience design research, teaching and consulting and playing outdoors with his wife and four kids.
