Why These Are The "Oscars of Experience"
- As the Oscars are for movies, movies makers, and the whole movie industry — so the WXO Experience Awards are for experiences, experience makers, and the whole Experience Economy.
- The Academy Awards celebrate excellence in movies, and they direct the world's spotlight onto movies.
- So the WXO Experience Awards celebrate excellence in experiences, and they aim to turn ever more of the world's attention to experiences.
- The first Academy Awards were created to bring together the 5 branches of the movie industry – actors, directors, producers, technicians, and writers. The WXO's overall mission is to bring all branches of the Experience Economy together. Our first Experience Awards will feature 5 categories.
5 categories of Excellence
- Art / Craft — for experiences that are immersive, innovative, engage the senses, and make people feel something through outstanding design and/or operations
- Science — for experiences that apply learnings from science in an engaging, novel or compelling way
- Business — for experiences that are profitable, repeatable, scalable, or achieved great things with a small budget
- Tech — for experiences that use new or emerging technology, or apply any technology in a way that really elevates the experience
- Impact — for experiences that have a positive impact on people, society, community or planet, whether through enhancing wellbeing, bringing people together, or being truly sustainable
The Process
- A simple process, inspired by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences
- Step 1 — anyone can nominate an experience. You can nominate someone else's experience or an experience you work or worked on.
- Step 2 — for the Oscars, only members of the Academy can vote. For the WXO Experience Awards, only expert members of the WXO can vote.
The 2024 Awards
- We received over 165 nominations for our inaugural Awards, which were whittled down to a shortlist of just 26 finalists by our panel of experience pioneers.
- The 2024 Awards Ceremony took place at the World Experience Summit in June 2024.
- We crowned five winners in the Art, Science, Business, Tech & Impact of Experience.
