Content and Programme Director

The role

WXO is building the professional home  – and the intellectual authority – for the Experience Economy.

We’re looking for an exceptional editorial, insight and programme leader who can turn the knowledge within WXO and its global community into useful content, intellectual property and live programmes.

This is a senior, hands-on role. You will set the direction and do the work: researching, writing, editing, interviewing, publishing and programming, supported by colleagues and specialist partners.

You will own the content journey from identifying an important question to creating, packaging and distributing the answer – then turning it into something the profession can use and build upon.

Create → package → distribute → establish authority → help build the profession.

What you will own

1. WXO’s editorial output

Set WXO’s editorial agenda and standards. Identify the questions that matter, then research, write, commission and edit work that is clear, credible and useful.

Own the State of the Experience Economy, Experience Briefings and a focused portfolio of reports, frameworks and repeatable editorial products.

Maintain WXO’s publishing calendar and personally help produce content across our websites, community, newsletters, LinkedIn and other priority channels.

2. Websites and video

Own worldxo.org and londonexperienceweek.com as products, including their content, audience journeys, performance and continuous improvement.

Lead the development of WXO’s next website, beginning with user research and exploring how AI could create a better experience for users and make the site easier to operate.

Develop useful, repeatable video formats for interviews, explainers and event content. Shape stories, interview contributors, brief editors and turn long-form footage into content people will watch and share.

3. Live programmes

Programme WXO’s Campfires, PlayLabs and other selected events. Identify the right questions, contributors and formats; prepare speakers; and turn the strongest sessions into articles, briefings and videos.

Own the content production of London Experience Week: its programme architecture, speakers, formats, room planning, schedules, runs of show, programme information and live delivery.

You will own what happens, where it happens, when it happens and how it all fits together, working closely with venues, hosts and production partners.

4. Awards and professional products

Work with the CEO, who leads new product development, to shape the intellectual content of new WXO products. These may include courses, professional frameworks, standards, credentials, benchmarks and career pathways. This already includes the WXO Awards. You’ll own their proposition, categories, criteria, entry journey, judges, judging process and the communication of finalists and winners.

You will ensure that these products are credible, useful and grounded in the needs of practitioners and organisations.

5. Distribution and influence

Ensure WXO’s work reaches the right practitioners, organisations, journalists and industry bodies – not merely that it gets published.

Increase the extent to which WXO’s ideas are cited, discussed and used. Identify how our intellectual property can support membership, partnerships and commercial opportunities.

Treat content as a product: define the audience problem and measure of success; ship; assess the evidence; and decide what to stop, change or scale.

What success looks like after 12 months

  • WXO’s flagship reports and briefings are credible, useful and delivered reliably.
  • WXO has established compelling written and video formats that grow its authority.
  • The existing websites are performing better and the next website has a validated proposition and delivery plan.
  • Campfires and PlayLabs consistently produce useful sessions and reusable content.
  • London Experience Week has a distinctive, coherent programme delivered successfully across every space.
  • The WXO Awards have become an industry standard.
  • At least one new professional product has been shaped and tested with the CEO.
  • Core content and programmes ship to a high standard with only light CEO involvement.

What you will bring

  • Exceptional editorial judgement and intellectual curiosity.
  • Excellent writing, editing, commissioning and interviewing skills.
  • A record of turning complex material into clear, useful content.
  • The ability and willingness to produce and publish work personally.
  • Experience with content-rich websites, video and digital publishing.
  • Experience programming complex live events.
  • Strong project-management skills and attention to detail.
  • An understanding of distribution, analytics, SEO and audience development.
  • Confidence using AI while safeguarding accuracy, originality and voice.
  • Commercial curiosity, low ego, high standards.
