Campfire description
On the 21st of June, Amsterdam will celebrate its 750th birthday. The birthday party has been in the works for the last 10 years…
However instead of a sensible location, the municipality has decided to – for one day only – shut down its most important road.
The entire 15km / nine mile A10 ring road surrounding the city will be the stage for a once in a lifetime event operation.
- More than 200 different organizations are involved.
- 300,000 (free) tickets are being distributed to its residents (not boozy Brits!).
- Budget is estimated at 40 million Euros.
A massive, free event featuring music, dance, sports, kids’ activities, food, and more, this will be the culmination of a year long anniversary party – and a true experience.
Tom Goulooze is your experience design reporter on the scene. As Experience Design Partner at kaospilot hat and with years of experience making meaningful moments for brands like LEGO, Netflix, Spotify and WeTransfer, Tom will give you a eyewitness account from a country that retains the reputation as one of places of event-organizing excellence.
Tom will report back first-hand and will discuss how this event fits into the pantheon of experiences that come around only once plus the choices made – right and wrong.
An Amsterdam resident but not professionally involved, come for Tom’s independent view as a XD professional with takeaways – from the biggest birthday party ever! – for your own live events.
